City Maternal and Child Outreach Programs
With the goal of promoting and improving the health of mothers and children in the City of Hartford, the Maternal and Child Health division of the City of Hartford’s Health and Human Services Department offers services to women, children and their families through a variety of coordinated programs. All services are free of charge and include: the Maternity Infant Outreach Program (MIOP), the Nurturing Families Network (NFN), Healthy Start, the Immunization Action Plan Program, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) food and nutrition assistance program and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention initiative. The Connecticut Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program
The Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (CBCCEDP) is a comprehensive screening program available throughout Connecticut for medically underserved women. The primary objective of the program is to significantly increase the number of women who receive breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment referral services. Hartford Hospital’s Partnership for Breast Care
The Hartford Hospital Partnership for Breast Care operates a digital mobile mammography program at Hartford City Hall and other locations that provides low or no-cost mammograms for women without insurance and increases access to mammography services. Women eligible for these screening mammograms must have not had a mammogram or breast biopsy in the past year and do not have breast implants or a personal history of breast cancer. A base line mammogram is recommended for women between the ages of 35 and 39; annual mammograms for women 40 and over. Early detection exams for colon cancer and information about lung cancer are also provided.

WISEWOMAN Program
WISEWOMAN services teach women ages 40–64 years who have little or no health insurance how to eat healthy, be more physically active, and quit smoking to prevent heart disease. Services may include blood pressure and cholesterol screening, testing for diabetes and osteoporosis, and lifestyle programs that target poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and smoking.

Women's Heart Program
The Women’s Heart Program is offered free to any woman over 18. It is designed to help women take a proactive approach to heart disease through education and increased awareness. Participants register for an education session provided by a cardiologist, registered nurse, a registered dietitian, and an exercise physiologist. The staff of the Women's Heart Program will assist participants in developing individualized goals for reducing risk of heart disease, making appropriate dietary changes, and beginning a structured exercise program.
